Championing women in leadership and inspiring the next generation of female leaders
Mission
Our mission is to join the global effort in raising awareness of the unique and often overlooked challenges faced by women in the workplace.
We want to establish a community of female leaders on their leadership journeys, harnessing the power of women’s collective action and connecting women at various stages of the leadership ladder. Attainable You aims to broaden women’s ‘professional imagination’ by showcasing role models and breaking down stereotypes of women in leadership, encouraging women to pursue their careers further, seek roles which they would otherwise have not considered and to proactively climb the corporate ladder.
We create content, share resources and information, offer support and host discussions with the aim of being a hub for women in the workplace and inspiring the future generations of female leaders.
Why Attainable You?
Today, the percentage of women in leadership in the corporate world is still far from equal. In 2020 women made up nearly half of the employees of S&P 500 companies but only 6% of their CEOs. Whilst we have witnessed great strides in achieving gender balance in the workplace, the progress is slow. Women do not lack drive, ability or experience, so what is really holding women back?
There are still systemic barriers in place for women looking to achieve more senior leadership roles and Attainable You wants to increase awareness of these barriers.
Rebecca started Attainable You to establish a community of like-minded women and:
Influence organisations to better serve women and help close the leadership gap
Showcase inspiring women and role models that challenge the ever-present popular culture
Create content that celebrates female ability and achievement
Empower women at all stages of their careers to strive for equality
Encourage a growth mindset whilst also celebrating the successes in the here and now
Meet the Founder
Hi I’m Rebecca a mum of two daughters, wife and founder of Attainable You. Since starting out my career in accountancy, I have had two major career transitions into Consultancy and Product Management in the Financial Services industry. Whilst working in Consultancy, I remember looking at the firm’s leaders and being disappointed by the lack of women at the top as well as the lack of flexibility.
Since then, I have been passionate about understanding the reasons for a lack of gender diversity in management positions in the corporate world.
Having worked across a number of industries in the past 13 years, I have been fascinated learning about what makes a great leader and eager to share my own real-life experiences on my career journey. I am an active member of an array of women’s networks and believe in bringing women together to have a positive impact, standing on the shoulders of the women that came before us, who fought for rights many of us enjoy today.
I believe that change is most impactful when reaching the broadest audience, not just executives or those at the top of an organisation i.e. driving change from the bottom up and focusing on those earlier in their careers.
I am a qualified accountant with a bachelors degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics from the University of Warwick and a masters degree in Economics from the University of Bristol.
In my ‘spare’ time I love spas, travelling and good food! I also enjoy reading stories to my daughters.
